City Compost Site: 
The Lake City compost site will close for the 2025 season on Wednesday, November 26th 2025.

Fees apply, and approvals are needed for commercial dumping. 

 

Notice Regarding 2025 Compost Site Use * * *NEW* * *  (April 2025)

 

Effective for the 2025 season, the Lake City Compost Site will be open to City of Lake City residents only.

Individuals residing outside of city limits will no longer be permitted to use the facility.

This decision was made following careful consideration of city policy and a variety of operational concerns. We understand this may impact some users, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure responsible and sustainable use of the site.

 

The City will continue to review this policy and will provide updates as needed for future seasons.

Dog Licenses
Licenses are available at the Public Safety Building, located at 601 North 10th Street.  The City of Lake City requires that all dogs be licensed annually. You can purchase a dog license during normal business hours, weekdays from 8am to 4:30pm. A current copy of proof of rabies vaccination for each dog is required and must be kept on file at the City.

The City of Lake City seeks dynamic individuals to serve on various boards and commissions.
