Short Term Rental Regulations

Over the past few years, the City of Lake City has increasingly received inquiries from residents about their ability to use their homes as short-term rentals.  Regulations were first explored by the City in 2007, and after monitoring the market for over a decade, the City adopted regulations in 2018.  Owners of dwelling units that are used for a short term rentals must register with the City of Lake City.  The registration enables the City to accurately track and oversee these units.

Short-term rentals are considered rentals of individual rooms or an entire home for 30 days or less.

The ordinance adopted by the City Council is available for download below, along with the form that must be completed and submitted to the City prior to renting out your home.  Registrations are required to be filed with the City only once; their is no annual renewal.
