What are the rules for recreational fires?
The Minnesota State Fire Code governs recreational fires. A recreational fire must:

- be no more then 3 feet in diameter and no higher then 2 feet.
- burn clean wood. No garbage, construction lumber or other painted materials.
- have a way to be extinguish. example: shovel or garden hose.
- Must be at least 25 feet away from any combustible structure.

If the fire department receives a complaint concerning smoke from a recreational fire, the fire must be extinguished. If you plan on having a recreational fire, please inform your neighbors prior to the event.
