North Garden Street Reconstruction
The City of Lake City is preparing for the North Garden Street Reconstruction Project, scheduled to begin in spring 2026. This multi-year investment will rebuild North Garden Street from Monroe Street to Lyon Avenue (US 63) and replace aging infrastructure including pavement, sidewalks, watermain, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems.
Ahead of street construction, the City is also completing a coordinated electric system upgrade, converting approximately three blocks of overhead electric lines to underground service. In fall 2025, Castrejon, Inc. installed new underground conduits and primary cables throughout the project area. City Electric Department crews, with support from Majerus Electric, will now complete transformer work and transition select homes from overhead to underground electric service. Fifteen homes have been identified for conversion, and this work will take place through late fall and winter, weather permitting.
Together, these improvements are part of the City’s broader effort to modernize public infrastructure, improve system reliability, enhance neighborhood safety, and reduce future maintenance needs. No direct costs will be assessed to property owners. Residents will receive regular updates, notices, and construction information as the project progresses into 2026 and 2027.
