City of Lake City Minnesota

NEWS & UPDATES

Public Notice

Due to extreme cold weather this winter the frost table is lower than previous years, resulting in frozen water service lines in areas.

Lake City Public Works is asking all residents to monitor the temperature of their water.  If it drops below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, run a pencil diameter flow continuously.  The temperature should be checked on occasion to monitor when it is above 40 degrees and the continuous flow can be stopped.

Financial consideration will be given related to increased water and sewer usages for those households running water continuously, with using either an average monthly bill or the same billing period last year for the current billing.

Residents running water continuously are requested to contact the City at 345-5383 or Rhonda at 345-6810 rharkins@ci.lake-city.mn.us or Chris at 345-6801 cstelzer@ci.lake-city.mn.us with the following information:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Address of subject property
  • Utility account number

Winter Snow Reminders

Sidewalks
Please remember to keep your sidewalk safe for pedestrians during the winter season by keeping them free from snow and ice accumulations.  The City will conduct inspections of all sidewalks 48 hours after the cessation of a snow event.  Any sidewalk not cleared at the time of inspection will be cleared by the City, and the cost of clearing and de-icing will be billed to the property owner.

Streets
Lake City’s Winter Parking Restrictions are effective October 1st  through April 1st.  When continuous or intermittent snow, ice, or similar precipitation has accumulated to a depth of four (4) inches or more, street parking restrictions apply until all snow and ice has been removed. After a street is fully plowed, vehicles are allowed to park back on the streets.  “Fully plowed” means the street is completely cleared and plowed to the full width of the street.
